My name is Isaac Freedman, I’m a junior, and this is my second year as a Learning Center tutor and my first as an in-class tutor. Working as a tutor has been both a teaching and a learning experience for me. Although initially I started as a math tutor, I love helping to edit papers, balance chemical equations, form the subjunctive, simplify trigonometric functions, and once in awhile write inverted chords for AP Music Theory students. I owe a huge thank you to Ms. Finn and Mr. Helkowski for getting me involved in this incredible program. Outside of school, I work as the music teacher at North Shore Congregation Israel. I am always listening to music and looking for new up and coming bands- Mr. Czajkowski always has great suggestions if you’re looking! Remember, do not hesitate to ask for help in TLC. We are all there to assist in any way we can and look forward to getting the chance to do so!
What teachers are saying about Isaac:
Isaac is excellent at greeting students, making them feel welcome. He listens to what they need, and helps them find the information in their notes that will guide the tutor session. He is teaching them how to help themselves. He also demonstrates that it is ok to ask for help when you don't know (as he has done if he gets stuck).
Isaac consistently has a welcoming smile on his face. He is very approachable, a characteristic of an effective tutor. When his peer is struggling, Isaac doesn't just give the answer. Instead, he asks engaging questions to lead the person to the answer. I just wanted to recognize Isaac and extend a "good job" to him!
