Hi! I’m Jake Reisner, and I’m a sophomore at Highland Park. This August I began my first year of tutoring at the LC. I became I tutor because I wanted to help my peers and make a positive impact by spreading my own understandings. I enjoy teaching chemistry the most because I can explain chemical relationships the best. There is a road map for solving problems in chemistry, and I enjoy teaching this path to others. I’m on the swim team, play water polo, participate in math team meets and I’m a coder for the Vertigo robotics team. I would HIGHLY recommend becoming a tutor because it is your responsibility to give back, but also because tutoring helps develop your skills in classes taken in the past. For the student meeting a tutor for the first time, prepare some questions, then go for it. You will not regret it. Everyone experiences shyness at some point in time.
What teachers are saying about Jake:
Jake's willing to help anyone and (from my occasional observations) makes an effort to explain things in a way he thinks the student might understand it. I like his energy and positive attitude.
Jake is an enthusiastic and dependable tutor who can assist students in many subjects. He patiently guides students to the right answer.
