I am a junior, and this is my second year tutoring in the LC. I became a tutor because I love helping my peers. I enjoy tutoring in math because it is my favorite subject, and tutoring different levels helps reinforce my own skills.
I would definitely recommend becoming a tutor to other students! It is truly a rewarding experience to see students understand a difficult concept and build their confidence. Teaching your peers a concept is a great way to sharpen your own skills and make you a better communicator.
My advice to students meeting a tutor for the first time is to go ahead and ask lots of questions! Asking for help is a strength. Tutors want to help you, and sometimes, just talking through a problem or paper idea is really helpful.
At HPHS, I participate in Girl Up, Science Olympiad, and DECA, and I love being a TLC Tutor.
What teachers are saying about Namrita:
Namrita is an in class tutor in our Algebra 2 class. Each day she takes initiative while in the classroom. Rather than waiting for us to pair her up with somebody, she walks around the room checking in with students. When she sees a hand go up in the air she goes right to them to assist. She has been an integral part of our class as she is seen as a go to person and all students are comfortable asking her for help.
