My name is Elena Fabian and I am a junior here at HPHS. I also do rhythmic gymnastics so I really enjoy having the TLC as a resource to ask for help when I miss school for competitions. I chose to tutor this year so that I can assist other students who are also asking for help, and I’m glad to be on the giving end after receiving so much useful tutoring for my own classes.
I most enjoy tutoring in math because it’s a subject where concepts click and I really enjoy trying to come up with different explanations. I tutor Alg 2/Trig, physics honors, English 2, AP Spanish Lang, and AP Euro, but I also like working with people in the same classes that I take because we learn things together. I really like to focus on answering specific questions or giving summaries of general topics, so for any student coming in for the first time I would suggest to really make sure you get your questions answered and always ask for clarification because the tutors are such a great resource.
Here's what Ms. Yoo has to say about Elena:
For a whole week and a half, Elena Fabian came to my class to help my sophomores through the process of editing and revising a major paper we have been working on for the last month. Elena was instrumental in helping students problem solve and clear sticking points during this redrafting process. She worked with several students repeatedly throughout the week because these sophomore felt so supported and comfortable working with this young woman. In the end, I think my students really appreciated her patience, the respect with which she spoke to my kids, and her general expertise when it came to brainstorming ideas and revising syntax. I look forward to working with Elena again; what a treasure!
