My name is Konrad Schmid, and I am currently a Junior. I started tutoring in the Learning Center my Sophomore year. Becoming a tutor first interested me my Freshman year, when I frequently visited the LC to do homework and study. Then, my Sophomore year, I became a tutor because I felt I was good at, and enjoyed, explaining concepts to others. Moreover, I wanted to help people who were struggling or even just had a quick question in any given subject, because I knew it would benefit them in the long run. This year, in addition to tutoring in the LC, I started tutoring in Mr. Leibfried’s Algebra 1 class, which I have really enjoyed doing. I especially enjoy tutoring math, as that subject has always been my strength.
Outside of the Learning Center, I am a member of the Boys Varsity Swim Team, where I compete mainly in the 200 yard individual medley and 100 yard breaststroke events. I also swim for HPAC, the year-round club swim team in Highland Park.
If you are interested in becoming a tutor, I strongly encourage you to give it a try, especially if you enjoy helping others. Also, if you are someone who would like to meet with a tutor for the first time, don't hesitate to reach out! The LC has many wonderful student tutors and kind teachers who will support you in any and every subject. Not only that, but the LC provides an excellent learning environment in which to do homework, eat lunch, and study with friends.
Here's what Teachers are saying :
Mr. Leibfried: Konrad comes to Algebra 1 Survey and is willing to help out with whatever is needed. He is so positive with the kids. He is not afraid to interact with them and talk with them about their interests as well as show them the math. We love when he comes to our class a couple times a week as he is so willing to work!
Mr. Helkowski: Konrad is a rockstar. He makes his peers feel welcomed and comfortable asking questions. He helps students to feel ready for class or their next quiz. Konrad is such a model tutor and always willing to push his own work aside to help someone else. Our Learning Center works because of tutors like Konrad.
