Hi! My name is Jack McCabe and I'm a junior at HPHS. I've been tutoring now for about a year. I became a tutor in the first place because I would always help my sibling out with her math homework, since I was a year ahead of her, and I enjoyed doing it, so I thought I could help others too! Because of this, my favorite subject to tutor is math, specifically, probably Algebra 2 with Trig of Algebra 1 since those classes have some of my favorite topics and basics that are so important for the future! I also tutor English and Science, but less frequently, and when I do I typically find myself editing/reviewing essays for English, and tutoring Physics. When I tutor, I try to make it seem fun, I try to make horrible math jokes and make the work seem fun! Outside of school, I enjoy riding my bicycle around Highland Park, but more than that I enjoy the circus arts. I enjoy riding my unicycle and learning new tricks. I would 100% recommend becoming a tutor to others as it's such a good way to help the people around you in your school, and even if you don't think you can to at least investigate further, because I really didn't know what I was doing at first but over time, I feel as if I've improved some of my skills as well! If you're coming to meet with a tutor for the first time, my advice would be to not be afraid to ask for help, because you may find that you can do it, and maybe have a little fun while you learn a subject better too!
Here's what Teachers are saying :
Jack has been a staple in the learning center for the past two years. He is always willing to jump in and help out students whenever questions come up. For the past few weeks he has been working specifically with an individual student who trusts him immensely. The work Jack does on a daily basis helps so many students feel at ease in their classes. The learning center is lucky to have him.
