"It's wanting to know that makes us matter." - Tom Stoppard
"No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail Better." - Samuel Beckett

The two quotes above epitomize the goals of our student tutors: to help other students construct knowledge, and to acknowledge that seeking out help is not a weakness, but a strength. The Learning Center offers the unique opportunity for students to collaborate on a daily basis to help one another build the critical literacy and numeracy skills of the high school experience. The Learning Center provides a space where students support one another's academic journeys by constructing knowledge together. In doing so, both students working in unison cement their understanding of the content, concepts, and skills they work on, and create a student-led learning community. As the hub of Highland Park High School's learning community, The Learning Center supports the school's Equity initiative as an equal-access resource for students of all abilities and backgrounds.
